skimming the spoilboard on cnc |Forum|WOOD DESIGNER
Hi Brendan
Skimming the spoil board is an easy process using VCarve and you will not need to use either Polyboard or Optinest to perform this. In fact, it would be overly complicated and counterproductive.
Using Vcarve, you just need to start with a new job size the size of your spoil board. Thickness does not matter if you are referencing from the material surface (different if you work from the bed).
Add a rectangle to the size of your job size (spoil board size) or slightly larger.
Add a pocket toolpath with a depth of say’ .5mm and select the tool you are using to skim the spoil board.
We use a 120mm cutter.
Manually select the rectangle you added and calculate the toolpath.
Save the toolpath as something obvious.
Run the job on the CNC as usual and this will skim .5mm from the spoil board.
Hope that helps
